4 days prior to starting your prep – avoid eating nuts, seeds, corn, popcorn, and raw fruits/vegetables.

You must follow the instructions carefully to ensure your system will be clean, clear, and ready for examination.

REMEMBER – NO SOLID FOODS TODAY. You must consume 8 ounces of clear liquids every hour.

DAY BEFORE THE EXAM:

  • 7:00 AM Take clear liquid meal
  • 8:00 AM Take 4 Osmo Tablets with 8 oz. clear liquid
  • 8:15 AM Take 4 Osmo Tablets with 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 8:30 AM Take 4 Osmo Tablets with 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 8:45 AM Take 4 Osmo Tablets with 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 9:00 AM Take 4 Osmo Tablets with a Carbonated Beverage
  • 10:00 AM Drink at least 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 11:00 AM Drink at least 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 12:00 Noon Take clear liquid meal
  • 1:00 PM Drink at least 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 2:00 PM Drink at least 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 3:00 PM Drink at least 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 4:00 PM Drink at least 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 5:00 PM Drink at least 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 6:00 PM Take 4 Osmo Tablets with 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 6:15 PM Take 4 Osmo Tablets with 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 6:30 PM Take 4 Osmo Tablets with 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 7:00 PM Take clear liquid meal
  • 8:00 PM Take ALL 4 Bisacodyl tablets (swallow tablets wholewith a full glass of water. Do not chew or dissolve tablets.Take all 4 tablets unless your doctor indicates otherwise).
  • 9:00 PM Drink at least 8 oz. clear liquids
  • 10:00 PM Drink at least 8 oz. clear liquids

DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT

DIABETICS: Reduce your insulin from _________units of ____________in the AM to _________units. In the PM, reduce your insulin from ________units of ____________ to ________ units.

If you take oral diabetic medications – do not take them the morning of your procedure. Check your blood sugar before you leave home and let the nurse know the results before the procedure.

ESSENTIAL MEDICATIONS

On the morning of the procedure, DO take your heart, blood pressure, seizure, anxiety, and depression medications with a small drink of water.

BLOOD THINNERS

If you take blood thinners such as Coumadin (warfarin), Plavix (clopidogrel), Aggrenox, Pletal (cilostazol), Lovenox (enoxaparin), Heparin or Ticlid (ticlopidine), your physician will give you special instructions on holding these medications prior to your procedure. You do not need to stop asprin.
